Sterling Talent Solutions Awarded Certification by Transatlantic Group US-EU Privacy Shield

Sterling Talent Solutions, the world’s largest background screening and HR solutions company, is pleased to announce its certification under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. The Privacy Shield – which replaces Safe Harbor –allows Sterling’s U.S. to receive data originating from the European Economic Area with greater speed and safety.

“We’re pleased to be awarded this certification by the Privacy Shield Team. This is yet another advancement for Sterling that will allow for both increased flow of information from our clients and their subsidiaries based in Europe while also ensuring the utmost protection for the personal information of candidates and clients, “said Oran Kiazim, Vice President of Global Privacy. “Our entire team is committed to upholding the Privacy Shield Principles and passing on the benefits to our clients.”

Privacy Shield Program Overview

The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework was designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission to assist companies in the EU with transferring data to companies in the U.S. through a mechanism that would meet data protection requirements and foster transatlantic commerce. The Privacy Shield program is administered by the International Trade Administration (ITA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce. On July 12, 2016, the European Commission deemed the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework adequate to enable data transfers under EU law (see the adequacy determination).

The Privacy Shield program, which is administered by the International Trade Administration (ITA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce, enables U.S.-based organizations to join one or both of the Privacy Shield Frameworks in order to benefit from the adequacy determinations. To join either Privacy Shield Framework, a U.S.-based organization will be required to self-certify to the The Department of Commerce and publicly commit to comply with the Framework’s requirements. While joining the Privacy Shield is voluntary, once an eligible organization makes the public commitment to comply with the Framework’s requirements, the commitment will become enforceable under U.S. law.
